More money for Social Care... from you!

Cornwall Council will be allowed to charge a 3% “Social Care Precept”, which will cost the average household an extra £42 per year. This money will be ring-fenced for adult social care, and most of it will be used specifically to increase the number of “Generic Support Workers” who are trained in both Nursing Care and Social Care. These GSWs will provide a higher level of support at home, enabling patients to leave hospital sooner, which is better for the patient as well as reducing pressure on hospitals.

The only way to sustain the NHS and Social Care without breaking the backs of the poor is to make sure that these services are properly funded from central taxation, not propped up by Council tax.
