Abolish the Tamar Tolls

Cornwall Liberal Democrats are calling for Central Government to fund the Torpoint Ferry and Tamar Bridge so that the tolls can be abolished.

With tolls rising to £2 per crossing, it is time for Government to fund the Tamar Bridge and Ferry, just as they have done in Wales and Scotland.

Cornwall's economy depends on good transport links to Devon, so the ever-increasing cost of maintaining the bridge and ferry is something which needs secure funding.

It is unfair to call on local residents to foot the bill, when the Government has found the cash to fund other crossings, such as those over the river Severn to Wales.
